If you feel heavier than you should be, try these healthy weight loss tips. You only have weight to lose and a healthy body to gain!

Changing your weekly routine can feel overwhelming in the beginning. Especially, if you have a very habitual lifestyle and a family to take care of. So, my advice is to simply start with a small change and see if it makes a difference. If not, eventually add in more steps. Most important, you have the power within you to change and these healthy weight loss tips are effective if you stick with them!

Top Tips for Weight Loss

1. Stop Weighing Yourself

The best thing you can do for yourself is to get rid of your scales! I do not believe in weighing and allowing a number to dictate where you are supposed to be. Because if you are honest with yourself, you will know if you are a healthy weight or not.

If you weigh yourself daily and do not see progress fast enough, it may discourage you to continue. Therefore, if you want to stay motivated stay off the scales and measure by how you feel.

2. Eat Greens With Lunch & Dinner

Eating greens with every meal is a good habit to get into. Dark leafy greens are full of essential nutrients that help with digestion and feed the good bacteria in your gut. Add in greens such as kale, spinach, swiss chard, asparagus, brussel sprouts, mustard greens, broccoli, spirulina and/or barley grass juice powder.

Living a stressful, busy life can effect your digestive system. A poor digestive system, can inhibit the absorption of essential vitamins and minerals which can effect your weight and the health of your entire body. Thus, eat greens with every meal to enhance weight loss.

3. Eat Only One (Gluten-Free) Starch A Day

I have tried many different nutritional diet fads over the years such as low fat, high fat/low carb, high protein/no carb and the best I have felt is eating liver healthy. Liver healthy consists of numerous veggies, fruits, gluten free starches and small amounts of healthy fats such as nuts, legumes, beans, healthy oils, avocado's etc.

However, the most important thing when living a healthy lifestyle is finding the right balance for you. And cutting out complex carbohydrates altogether simply doesn't work well long term. Eating too much of anything isn't a good thing. So, I incorporate a gluten-free starch with one meal a day. Healthy starches include potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice (preferably brown), rice pasta, oats or quinoa. In short, it gives you energy and keeps you balanced.

4. Start Exercising

Walking is great for weight loss if you stick to a routine. Meaning, if you fast walk 45 minutes a day, you can lose fat in your belly, butt and thighs. Also, if you stick to a regime (every 2nd day) it will help you keep the weight off long term.

If you need motivation, download some music on your phone. Stick in your earphones and walk to your favourites. Music is so motivating and feels good. Sometimes, I start to dance because I can't help myself!

 

 

5. Ditch Dairy & Gluten From Your Diet

Many people who give up dairy and gluten lose weight! Also, when I gave them up, my digestion improved tremendously. I no longer had bloating issues, pains from indigestion and my skin improved.

Dairy and Gluten are problematic foods that can put strain on your digestive system. According to Medical Medium, Anthony Williams dairy fat in your bloodstream helps to breed viruses and bacteria. Dairy is also mucus producing, and a major cause of inflammation (along with Gluten), allergies and weight gain.

So, if you want to shed some pounds try cutting dairy and gluten from your everyday diet and if needed have a cheat day here and there!

6. Drink Water & Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice

Drink a least 2 litres of water each day including one 16 oz glass of warm water with the juice of a fresh squeezed lemon; preferably first thing in the morning because drinking fresh lemon water helps detox your liver and cleanses your entire body. Most important, it acts as an appetite suppressant.

7. Change Your Beliefs

You may need to change your beliefs in order to lose weight. Did you know that your mind stores 95% of memories, emotions and how your physical body operates?

Everything you experience is stored in the subconscious mind which can be positive or negative core beliefs. Most of your core beliefs are created from birth to around 7 years of age; all things you hear, feel or experience are recorded as the “truth” in your subconscious mind.   • Do you believe that you are heavier because of genetics?
