Today, we are inundated with environmental toxins which are affecting our overall health. And, many of those toxins you are administering in your own home. To clarify, you are consuming food additives and using harsh chemicals found in household products that have series harmful side affects. Therefore, here are 4 things you should stop using to improve your health.

1. Fabric Softener

I stopped using chemical fabric softeners and dryer sheets long ago. To clarify, I was on a self-healing mission and needed to rid my home of as many environment pollutants as possible.

It proved to be effective and after learning the research findings of Dr. Anne Steinmann’s research team, I was grateful I had.

Let me share with you what they found…..

2. Harmful Additives In Food

It is best to avoid foods that contain harmful additives. For example, artificial or refined substances in many foods are known to cause headaches, dizziness, allergies, cancer, nausea etc.

  • BHA and BHT
  • Natural Flavouring

I suggest looking over the list of ingredients and avoid packaged foods as much as possible. It is best to eat fresh wholesome foods that are free of preservatives!

3. Fragrant Candles & Air Fresheners

After learning about the chemicals and long term side affects of scented candles, air fresheners and other personal products, I stopped using them in my home.

These chemicals are disguised with pretty packaging and lovely scents that are hard to ignore. And, I must admit the only item I still use is perfume, but only on special occasions. NOT everyday like I use to.

According to Dr. Anne Steinmann “Society is suffused with fragranced consumer products: air fresheners, cleaning products, scented candles, hand sanitizers, laundry supplies, and personal care products, to name a few out of hundreds. Fragranced products emit a range of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), such as terpenes (e.g., limonene), which often dominate pollutants found indoors, and generate secondary pollutants such as formaldehyde.

Fragranced products can cause a range of adverse health effects, such as migraine headaches, asthma attacks, respiratory difficulties, neurological problems, mucosal symptoms, contact dermatitis, gastrointestinal issues, liver and kidney issues.”

4. Household Spray Cleaners

Stop using chemical spray cleaners in your home. I know you've been lead to believe that you are ridding your home of harmful pathogens and bacteria by using common anti-bacterial cleaners. But, you are actually defeating the purpose. In short, you may be killing bacterial but you are filling your home with toxins that can cause migraines, dizziness, loss of coordination, skin irritation, sore throats, asthma, allergies, severe kidney and liver damage.

You should use safe all-natural cleaners. For instance, my Aunt Shelley's DIY recipe is super easy to make. As a result, this all-purpose natural cleaner kills bacteria, fungus and mildew and can be used to clean your windows, kitchen and bathrooms.

DIY All-Natural Household Cleaner Recipe

  • 946ml Empty Spray Bottle
  • 1 Bottle Hydrogen Peroxide
  • 2 – 3 Drops Dr. Bronner's Organic Pure Castile Liquid Soap. Purchase click here.
  • 1 Tsp Baking Soda
  • White Vinegar
  • Few Drops Essential Oil. Purchase click here.

First, add all of the ingredients into the empty bottle, except the vinegar. Second, once all of the ingredients are added, fill the remainder of the spray bottle slowly with the vinegar because the baking soda will foam up.

You can use any essential oil of your choosing. For example, I chose geranium oil  because of its many health benefits. Most importantly, it is safe for pets!
